Sergeant Major, 8th Marine Regiment Sergeant Major Keith D. Hoge

Sergeant Major Hoge is a native of Gothenburg, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 22 September 1992. Upon completion of recruit training, MCRD, San Diego, California in December 1992, Private First Class Hoge reported to Marine Combat Training, Camp Pendleton, California. In January 1993, Private First Class Hoge reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron 501 in Memphis, Tennessee. In May 1993, Lance Corporal Hoge reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group, Lemoore, California for follow on MOS training to earn the MOS of 6027, F404 Jet Engine Mechanic.
In September of 1993 Lance Corporal Hoge reported to Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, Naval Air Station Lemoore, California for permanent duty. In June of 1996 Sergeant Hoge reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. In June of 1997 Sergeant Hoge reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, MCAS Miramar, California. In September of 1999 Sergeant Hoge reported to MCRD San Diego for Drill Instructor School. Upon graduation he was assigned duties in Company H, Second Battalion. Here he would serve as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Water Survival Instructor.
In January of 2003 Staff Sergeant Hoge reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, MCAS Miramar, California. In June of 2005 he reported to Officer Candidates School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. In November of 2007 Gunnery Sergeant Hoge reported to Aviation Logistics Department, Third Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar, California and deployed to Iraq in January 2008 as part of OIF 8.1.
In March of 2009 First Sergeant Hoge reported to First Battalion, Second Marines for duties as the Company First Sergeant. In March of 2010 he deployed to Afghanistan with Bravo Company as part of OEF 10.1. Upon his return from deployment, he would deploy to the Mediterranean Sea in 2011 with Charlie Company, BLT 1/2, 26th MEU in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn. In March of 2012 he would deploy with Weapons Company, BLT 1/2, 24th MEU. In January of 2013 First Sergeant Hoge reported for duty as the Training and Education Company First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCB Quantico, Virginia. In May of 2013 First Sergeant Hoge reported to Officer Candidates School, Quantico Virginia for duty as the Echo Company First Sergeant. After both summer increments, he returned to Headquarters and Service Battalion where he would serve until May of 2015.
Sergeant Major Hoge reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 5 on eight June 2015 and deployed with the battalion in April of 2016 as part of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 16.2 to Al Jaber, Kuwait. In August of 2017 he reported to 9th Communication Battalion and relinquished his post on 19 April 2019.
Sergeant Major Hoge’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars and Combat Distinguishing Device, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
