
LCDR Ulysses Lopez Ubalde

Father Ulysses L. Ubalde grew up in the Philippines and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and minor in Mathematics from Aquinas University of Legazpi City. He studied for the Catholic priesthood at Dominican House of Studies in Washington DC, at Washington Theological Union of Maryland, and at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology / Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. In May of 1993 he earned a diploma with the degree of Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry (M.Div.) In 1993 he was ordained to the Priesthood by Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick. Father Ubalde served at parishes in Paramus, Fort Lee, and Mountainside, New Jersey.
In 2003, Father Ubalde entered active duty as a Navy chaplain. His assignments have included, 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd FSSG, Okinawa, Japan; Marine Corps Base Okinawa, Camp Kinser chapel; USS SAIPAN (LHA-2); USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65); 2nd Marine Division, he deployed to Iraq from January to July of 2009 with II MEF forward. He also served in Afghanistan from July 2009 to March 2010 as Deputy Chaplain for the Marine Expeditionary Brigade (2MEB-A). Father Ubalde served at Naval Air Station (NAS), Sigonella, Italy; aboard USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) as Group Chaplain; and in Marine Corps Installation Pacific, MCB Butler, Okinawa, Japan.
He is currently assigned to 2nd Marine Division, 8th Marine Regiment, as Regimental chaplain.
